Remember when you played as a kid?
Playing is fundamental for developing the most important skills of the XXIst Century: creativity, problem solving, critical thinking, failure tolerance, empathy and collaboration. Moreover, playing experiences allow kids to engage into more profound and organic cognitive processes .
In Estación Meiquer, we empower children with creative play environments to transform communities in Mexico. Since 2016, we have played with kids, generating safe play environments in public areas (mainly libraries) and reactivating communities around those places through engaging creative play activities and workshops. Through our Social Service program, we train Changemakers from one of the best universities in Mexico, Tec de Monterrey, to implement those activities inside low-income communities in Guadalajara.
Moreover, through our Mobile Meiquer Lab, we use STEAM and Maker as tools to take creative play to the next level, mixing activities related with Science, Art or Technology with topics like Environment Preservation, Peace Culture, Gender Equality and Social Entrepreneurship with Innovation. We design our activities, services, content and products with our Meiquer Methodology, which is inspired by the Spiral for Creative Play (MIT Media Lab).
Currently, we are designing two brand new platforms: Creative Learning Experience and MeiquerTV.
Through these virtual platforms, we want to create safe digital environments for kids and parents, where they can explore and imagine with Meiquer activities at home. We are designing engaging creative play content with inspiring stories to create meaningful moments for both kids and parents.
With your support, we can empower more children with creative play environments to transform communities in Mexico and Latin America.
